WWW genealogy databases
A number of people are experimenting with using WWW and HTML to
present the results of their genealogical research. Some of the known
efforts are shown below. For alternate (and better!) listings of WWW

and Family Data. Both of these pages have search features.
This page is no longer being actively maintained. However, newer listings are
still being placed on Whats New page.
- Gary Hoffman (ghoffman@ucsd.edu) has proposed creating a
distributed genealogy database called GenWeb using
the
World Wide Web concept. His proposal includes a demonstration of technology
and
an invitation to join a mailing list on the subject.
- Birger Wathne (Birger.Wathne@vest.sdata.no) has some examples of
WWW accessible Lifelines databases including a database of royal
genealogies.
- Brian Tompsett (B.C.Tompsett@computer-science.hull.ac.uk) has expanded
his database of Royal
Ancestry
to include over 12,000 entries.
- Bill Minnick has also mounted a WWW genealogy demonstration
,
sponsored by the Silicon Valley PAF Users Group.
- Frode Kvam has
some pointers to
his and other genealogies viewable with WWW.
- The AKERS Family
Homepage is a small, hand-coded HTML database produced by Phillip Akers
(freyr!pakers@netcom.com) which also includes an HTML family tree chart.
- Herbert Stoyan (hstoyan@faui80.informatik.uni-erlangen.de) is making
available the
Descendants
of Charlemagne in English, Dutch and German. He has also produced a
30,000
name database of German
nobility. Finally, his PARCHAM
database includes about 6,000 names of descendants of Valentin Parcham of
Pommerania.
- The ancestors of Joe
CZYZYK, created with a Lifelines report.
- The MELDRUM and
related
families genealogy.
- The SPURLOCK family
genealogy.
- The STANIER family tree
contains
about 344 ancestral names of Alan Stanier (alan@essex.ac.uk) and his wife.
- Gene Stark (starkhome!gene@sbstark.cs.sunysb.edu) has a database of
about
700 centered on the STARK
family.
The data pages are linked into working "family history" hypertext docments,
summarizing research, and including background and images.
- Scott McGee has made
available his McGEE
database as well as several other databases.
- Phil Augur has created a web page on the
descendants
of Robert AUGER (New Haven, CT-about 1668 on).
- Daniel Loeb of Bordeaux France has made available his
LOEB
family tree.
- 6,500 Descendants of Richard
AUSTIN, Charlestown, MA, 1638 with 50 more families (50,000 names)
on the way from the Austin Families Association of America.
- Rick FIELD
has listed the names that he is researching and also provides information
about his Freeware program
Eucalypt, a
tree drawing program for Windows.
- George L. McNARY Jr. has made available: "Ancestors
of Americus and Lydia McNary", DeWitt County TX.
- John SMITH
is showing his genealogy and some software for generating web pages.
- David WALKER's
genealogy page.
- Portions of the
genealogical compendium
Our
Family Museum by James NOHL CHURCHYARD
have been converted into HTML.
- The Family of
James Lowell BURROWS and Selma Lavelle BROWN was generated automatically
from his database.
- The KRAUSE Genealogy.
- Bob Fieg has
FIEG and CASEY family histories as well as some software for generating
pedigree charts.
- Paul
J. LAREAU has information and GEDCOM's of his families
English, Scottish, French, German, Polish, Canadian, and American
lines along with connections to HMS Bounty crewmembers.
- Rob Joyce has information on
JOYCE, KNECHT, LANDON, WOOLLEN, YOUNT, and many other names, set up

- The Thomas Arundell Society has a webpage on the

- Dave Crockett
is experimenting with HTML versions of old journals and has available the

- Jack Chapman's
